On March 13th, Historic Stonington presents the Band of Steady Habits, along with a three-century overview of life for the Irish in Connecticut, from the 1640s to the present. This captivating narrative of struggle, perseverance, acceptance, and success is enhanced by both uplifting and poignant music. Led by Connecticut State Historian Emeritus Walter Woodward, the Band of Steady Habits employs their musical talents to create a unique public history presentation. The band members—Rachel Smith, Teagan Smith, Jeremy Teitelbaum, and Duke York—play a variety of instruments, including banjos, guitars, violins, recorders, bass, and percussion, while delivering beautiful harmonies. They perform both historic and contemporary songs that complement visually rich and evocative historical stories. These stories offer new insights and perspectives on a range of topics, from the Civil War and the uniqueness of Connecticut to the Irish presence in the state. The concert will begin at 6 PM in the parish hall of Saint Michael the Archangel Church, located at 60 Liberty Street in Pawcatuck. This event is free, and everyone is welcome to attend.
