On select weekends this summer, notable artists are invited to Ocean House to share their artistic vision and give a demonstration of their skills.

Barbara Humphries will be painting en plein air on Ocean House grounds between 10:00 a.m. and Noon and 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Barbara will share how she creates her stunning paintings of beaches and landmarks of Rhode Island along with her other works. Finished paintings will be available for purchase.

About Barbara Humphries

Based in Charlestown, RI, artist Barbara Humphries is a watercolorist, oil and acrylic painter who can be viewed plein air painting at local beaches, landmarks, music venues, and parks across southern Rhode Island. She often uses sea water which adds a touch of elemental nature to many of her paintings, as she portrays the lively and joyous gatherings that are an intrinsic part of the beautiful Rhode Island seasons. When asked about her creative process, she shares this: “My artwork portrays the people in a different way than traditional photography or video can, because it’s a whimsical impression of the moment – a dreamy, artistic rendering of the colorful mood and lovely emotions enveloped within the event itself.” Barbara is a highly intuitive and agile painter with an ability to create one-of-a-kind beautiful images on the spot, which are much appreciated by those celebrating their special day as well as by all their guests.

Barbara is now offering exclusive live painting sessions at weddings and other special events. She uses her paints to render the beauty and emotion of a wedding, family reunion, or any special gathering to create a lasting visual memory that will be forever treasured. Her paintings preserve the memorable moments such as the first dance, the exchange of the vows, the interaction between family and friends. Barbara is a resident of Charlestown and will be available to paint at events in Southern RI for the entire 2024 season. We encourage early bookings as her calendar will fill up quickly.
