Join Joann and Jim Mead, authors of Married in Moscow: A Red-hot Memoir in Cold War Times, for a lively presentation filled with stories, rare images, music, and conversation.
From 1979 to 1981, Joann and Jim lived and taught in the Soviet Union during a turbulent era of Cold War politics. In this talk, they’ll share:
- Their unconventional Moscow wedding and teaching at the Anglo-American School
- Rare photographs, dissident art, and Soviet propaganda posters
- Insights into the suppression of dissidents, artists, journalists, and political prisoners
- Travel adventures across the USSR, and reflections on how today’s Russia is shaped by its past
The program includes a Q&A session, and books will be available for signing.
